The panel will consider hypothetical situations based on case law and existing legislation to discuss how to avoid difficult ethical situations that can damage your reputation and your clients’ interests, and can run afoul of professional regulations. There will be a discussion of current Law Society rules, and of situations that could attract potential negligence claims. Topics to be discussed:

• Learn how to identify difficult ethical issues
• Learn how to protect yourself from problem situations and difficult clients
• Learn how to prevent unnecessary problems with clients and regulators
• Learn how to comply with your professional obligations to clients, regulators, and government authorities
• Lean how to avoid conflicts of interest, ghost clients, and potential liability
